.NET Core has created a lot of excitement, as well as confusion, in particular for those of use working with ASP applications and services. Should we migrate? When should we migrate? And how? And to what? These were some of the questions my team had when we were deciding on whether to migrate our ASP.NET microservices to .NET Core. The migration turned out to affect every part of our system: code, dependencies, editors, integration and deployment pipeline, as well as distribution model. As the person responsible for the migration I’d like to share with you the details and answer several questions: Why did we decide on migrating? How did we prepare? What were the tools used for the migration? And how exactly did we do it? In this session, I’ll share the pain and pleasure of migrating a pre-release SAS microservices system, on limited resources, time and funds. Besides practical advice and examples, many mishaps will be shared, as well further guidance, for a 360 view on a very interesting migration.
